In a function held at Kadayanallur on August 6 to distribute welfare measures, Union Minister Thiru G.K.Vasan and Deputy Chief Minister Thiru M.K.Stalin unveiled portraits of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar and K.Kakkan and offered floral tributes. Ministers Thiruvalargal K.K.S.S.R.Ramachandran and Thangam Thennarasu, MLAs Peter Alphonse and Appavu were present.
Thiru Stalin, after listing out measures being taken by the Tamil Nadu Government to impart quality education at all levels, informed that the free colour television sets would reach every home before December-end. “We’ve distributed 1.31 crore television sets in the past four-and-a-half years and the remaining 21.43 lakh sets will be given away by December-end,” he said.
Thiru Stalin inaugurated 66 projects completed on an outlay of Rs. 20.66 crore, including additional buildings at Shencottai and Tenkasi government hospitals (Rs. 6.75 crore), 110/11 KV sub-station at Achchanputhur (Rs. 4.21 crore) and bio-fertilizer unit at Tenkasi (Rs. 90 lakh).
He laid foundation stones for 73 programmes to be executed on an outlay of Rs. 39.22 crore. |
